Carey's Bay vista 26.12.12
Christmas Day 2012
Had a very liesurly start to the day being woken by Eve & Max phoning to tell us about theirSanta presents! What lucky kids. We went for a big walk around the village of Outram before a liesurly breakfast and opening of our presents! We spent the day getting organised (packing) the van ready for our first big adcventure a whole week away in it
Then it was onto Christmas Dinner at Careys Bay
We celebrated dinner at nighttime at Jo and Steves home in the Bay, with the Kidstons (minus Carrie, Tama and Kids), Ethel, (Steves Mum) and a neighbour Chris. We decided to take the van down since we were heading away for a week on Boxing Day. Had a lovely dinner, Steve was the head chef and we all contributed in different ways. Was an exceptionally hot day but by evening the sea fog started to come in and it cooled us down.

We were having a very peaceful sleep until 7.04 when the Bin man arrived to empty same right next door to where we were parked! The day loomed overcast, cold and damp. Jo and Steve came down to check out our pad, I think it got the tick of approval. The news from Texas is that Julia and James got engaged on Christmas Day and that it was snowing in Texas. We had skyped Lyn and John earlier in the day.
We headed out of the Bay about 10.30 heading to Dunback (13km inland from Palmerston) a drop inn centre for all NZMCA members. There are about 7 other vans there when we arrived and we are pleased to report we were in time for happy hour, which is at 4.30 where ever you are, a great way to meet new friends.
Will come back later with the next note.
